Creative students in particular will thrive: the art, music and drama departments are excellent, and the school really puts in the effort so that pupils can fulfil their creative passions. If you like the sound of that, then Burgess Hill provides the perfect through-school experience. The nursery, prep and senior schools a...

    Bursaries
The school is passionate about providing exceptional opportunities for girls to thrive, regardless of financial background. Their bursary programme reflects their strong belief in the transformative power of an all-girls education and their commitment to widening access to it. Each year, the governors allocate a dedicated bursary fund to assist families who would otherwise find it difficult to afford full fees.

All bursaries are means-tested to ensure that support is awarded fairly and directed to those who need it most. Each year, a percentage of fee income is allocated to bursaries, “the pot”, with the level agreed by the governors as part of the annual budgeting process. This figure can vary from year to year and the school is committed to growing their bursary provision over time and actively encourages families to apply.

Pupils do not need to win a scholarship in order to be considered for a bursary. Bursaries are means-tested and awarded based on financial need rather than academic or co-curricular achievement. The school encourages applications from families who would benefit from financial assistance, regardless of whether their daughter is applying for a scholarship.

The school offers service personnel a 25% reduction on fees. In September 2026 the school will launch The Beatrice Goode Award, open to academically able girls entering Years 3, 4 or 5 in September 2026 who are currently attending a maintained (state) school, reflecting the school's commitment to widening access and extending the transformational opportunity of a Burgess Hill Girls education. The school also offers the Bold Award, one fully funded place in the sixth form.

While most bursaries awarded fall in the 10% to 30% range, families with a gross income below £30,000 per year and limited capital assets may be eligible for more substantial support. The maximum bursary award is 50% of the published fees, a limit set to enable the school to support as many deserving students as possible.
