Royal Institution Maths Masterclass at Papplewick
On Monday 8th June Papplewick had its final Royal Institution Maths Masterclass and many congratulations go to the 2026 Royal Institution Maths Masterclass Graduates!
It was a fantastic way to conclude this year’s Lent and Summer Royal Institution Maths Masterclass series.
This final session, brilliantly led by Adam Creen, took students on an inspiring journey through the wonders of geometry. From exploring the fascinating properties of hexagons and the strategic beauty of the Game of Hex, to discovering intricate fractal snowflakes and uncovering surprising geometric patterns, students experienced mathematics as a subject full of creativity, curiosity and discovery.
Throughout the series, students have embraced challenging ideas, asked thoughtful questions, developed their reasoning skills, and explored mathematics well beyond the classroom. They have investigated famous mathematical constants such as π, tackled complex problems, and encountered the excitement of genuine mathematical thinking.
We are now delighted to celebrate them as official Royal Institution Maths Masterclass Graduates. Their enthusiasm, perseverance and intellectual curiosity have made this year's programme a tremendous success, and we could not be prouder of everything they have achieved.
A huge thank you goes to all of the outstanding speakers, teachers, parents and supporters who have helped bring these enriching mathematical experiences to life throughout the year, and as one chapter closes; the school is already looking forward to welcoming a new cohort of young mathematicians next year for another series of inspirational Royal Institution Maths Masterclasses.
