SHS Host Year 1 Music Festival
On Wednesday morning, SHS’s assembly hall reverberted with excited singing of
Year 1 children from a number of local schools.
Shrewsbury House Pre-Preparatory School, The Rowans School, Thames Ditton Infant School and The Merlin School all joined us to share songs they had been learning recently. It was so impressive to see such young children take to our stage with such confidence.
After the Year 1 children had performed, our Year 3 choir performed the dramatic song “Mad Moon” by the contemporary British composer Jonathan Dove. To conclude the event, all the singers (and quite a few parents!), joined together to perform an uplifting rendition of John Rutter’s “Look at the world”. This was accompanied by a small ensemble made up of several of our visiting music teachers, performing on flute, oboe, harp and piano – a thoroughly enjoyable morning!
