Horris Hill Makes a Splash with Rock Pool!
Horris Hill School’s David Brownlow Theatre was filled with energy, colour, proud applause and
crustaceans this Spring term, as children from Reception through to Year 4 brought the musical
underwater tale Rock Pool by Niki Davies to life on stage.
Performed to two sell-out audiences of friends and family, the production was a celebration of music, imagination, and the spirit of teamwork.
The story follows Crabby, a determined little crab with big dreams of joining the famous Starfish Band -if only he could master the guitar! After a high tide whisks him away to a different rock pool, Crabby meets a lively cast of characters, including sand eels, sea lettuces, a rather menacing crab-eating octopus, and, importantly, a guitar-shredding lobster who just might have the skills to help Crabby achieve his goal.
The production saw every child from each year group take part, with pupils acting, singing, and dancing with enthusiasm. For many, it was their first time performing on stage - a milestone moment in their school journey. The result was a joyful performance full of character and charm, and a testament to the dedication and hard work of both pupils and staff.
The strength of the creative arts at Horris Hill continues to thrive, with many pupils throughout the school taking individual music lessons in addition to a rich and varied curriculum in the school’s dedicated music centre. The spring production was a clear reflection of that commitment, an absolute joy to watch, and a proud moment for everyone involved. We’re already looking forward to next year’s show!
