Finborough School Welcomes New Director of Boarding
Finborough School is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. James Conlon as its new Director of Boarding.
With over 20 years in education and 11 years dedicated to the boarding sector, James brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to pastoral care.
James has held a variety of roles throughout his career, including Learning Mentor at a Pupil Referral Unit, Lead Houseparent at a school in Devon, and Head of Boarding at a school in Surrey. His qualifications from the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) in Pastoral Care and Boarding Management reflect his dedication to ensuring the well-being and safety of every pupil in his care.
James is passionate about creating a boarding experience that is both nurturing and enriching. '
Boarding life should be filled with fun, laughter, and lifelong friendships,' he says. 'I want every boarder to leave Finborough with lasting memories and the academic success they need to be future ready.'
His arrival coincides with the exciting refurbishment of Finborough’s boarding facilities, a project James is eager to oversee. The improvements will further enhance the warm, inclusive environment that makes boarding at Finborough so special, a true home away from home.
Living onsite with his wife, three children, and their beloved dog Bunty, James is committed to continuing the renowned family atmosphere that Finborough is proud of. He enjoys sports, especially football, cooking, and is keen to oversee the exciting activities programme that the school’s boarders cherish.
Boarding at Finborough offers students a safe, supportive environment where they are valued as individuals and encouraged to thrive both academically and personally. With excellent transport links and a vibrant community, it’s no wonder Finborough is one of the top boarding schools in Suffolk.
The Finborough community warmly welcomes James and his family, and looks forward to the exciting developments ahead under his leadership.
