Royal Hospital School Celebrates Consecutive Record-Breaking GCSE Results

The Royal Hospital School (RHS), in Ipswich, is celebrating another year of exceptional academic success as its Year 11 pupils achieve outstanding GCSE results – the best in the school’s history!

An impressive 56% of all grades were awarded at the very highest level of 9–7, with 98% at grades 9-4. This marks the second consecutive year of record-breaking GCSE performance at RHS, reinforcing the school’s sustained trajectory of academic excellence.

These results follow only a week after the school’s best-ever A Level outcomes, with 46% of grades awarded at A*-A or equivalent. Taken together, these back-to-back records across GCSE and A Level are truly remarkable and stand as a testament to the determination, ambition, and talent of the diverse RHS community.

Irfan Latif, Headmaster, comments: ‘I am truly delighted for our 2025 GCSE cohort and immensely proud of all they have achieved - both academically and through their wider contribution to life at RHS. Many have balanced their studies alongside our vibrant co-curricular opportunities, from sailing and music to sport, CCF, leadership positions, and more.

RHS is proud to be home to pupils from a wide range of backgrounds, and it is a genuine privilege to provide the opportunities and support that enable them to fulfil their potential. I am deeply grateful to my colleagues for their unwavering dedication, to our families for their encouragement and guidance, and above all to our pupils, who have thrown themselves wholeheartedly into every aspect of RHS life. They have achieved remarkable results while developing as confident, well-rounded young people.

The future is exceptionally bright for this cohort. We look forward to welcoming them back into the RHS Sixth Form in September, alongside new pupils from across UK and around the world, as they continue their RHS journey.’

Katie Banks, Deputy Head (Academic), comments: 'Our pupils should be immensely proud of all they have achieved. Results Day marks the culmination of years of hard work, and at RHS we are delighted that this has once again translated into record-breaking outcomes. We are thrilled with all that has been accomplished both in and beyond the classroom, as pupils grow and develop their strengths, talents, and passions. I look forward to continuing to support, guide, and encourage our pupils as they progress through the RHS Sixth Form and take the next steps in shaping their futures.'
