Exceptional progress made by GCSE students at Lord Wandsworth College

Lord Wandsworth College near Hook has recorded another strong set of GCSE results, with the progress of students now placing LWC in the top ten per cent of schools nationally. Over 46 per cent of results have been graded 9-7, matching last year’s figures. There was also an increase in the percentage of grade 9s awarded, compared to 2024. The overall pass rate was 95 per cent.

The progress of this year’s GCSE students also puts LWC in the top ten per cent of schools and colleges nationally, based upon the ALPS system. On average, GCSE students at the College have made greater progress across a wide range of academic subjects, compared to similar students elsewhere.

10 grade 9s are today being celebrated by Henry (including an A in Additional Maths). Luca has been awarded seven grade 9s, with Kira and Ella both earning six grade 9s. Sophia, Ben, Aubrey and Eloise were all honoured with five grade 9s.

These excellent results follow last week’s record-breaking A-level results, which saw80 per cent of results graded A*-B, with 97 per cent, A*-C - the best performance within these grade boundaries in College history.

Headmaster, Adam Williams said, 'We are thrilled with this year’s results at LWC. Our approach values more than grades, but also character, resilience, determination and grit. These results are proof that this approach works and shapes not only academically strong young people, but those who are confident, purposeful and ready to make a difference in the world.'

In addition to a strong set of both A-level and GCSE results this year, LWC has also been shortlisted for Co-ed Independent School of the Year in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards.

The College will also open phase one of its 2.5 million-pound, sector-leading Sport, Fitness, Health and Adventure Centre next month, along with a new learning space for its much-expanded Special ÍÑ¿ã°Éal Needs (SEN) and Inclusion Team.

Mr Williams continued, 'We’re also incredibly excited to be joining forces with St Neot’s Preparatory School from September, in a merger which follows our formal collaboration, in place since 2021. The Lord Wandsworth Family of Schools is a strong one, offering parents the option of a continuous educational pathway from two through to 18 years.'
