Holme Grange School celebrates record GCSE results and looks to the future
Holme Grange School is celebrating an exceptional set of GCSE results in 2025 with students achieving some of the school’s strongest outcomes to date.
Headline achievements include:
96% of all GCSE entries awarded grades 9 - 4 (equivalent to A* to C)
59% achieving the top grades of 9 - 7, more than double the figure in 2024
37% of all grades awarded at 9 - 8
A rise to 16% of students securing the very highest grade 9
Core subjects saw outstanding results with 98% of students achieving 9 - 4 in Mathematics, 99% in English Language and 95% in English Literature.
Science was particularly impressive with 100% pass rates across Biology, Chemistry and Physics and more than 90% of candidates achieving the highest grades 9 - 7. This continues a proud tradition at Holme Grange of consecutive years with 100% pass rates in the Sciences. Notably, 56% of students achieved grade 9 in both Chemistry and Physics, the school’s highest ever results in these subjects.
Holme Grange’s Modern Foreign Languages also excelled with every candidate in French achieving grades 9 - 7, including 63% at grade 9 and German achieving a 100% pass rate with 80% at grades 9 - 7.
Humanities and the Arts equally shone, especially in the top grades 9 - 7, with 65% in History, 56% in Geography, 53% in RS, 62% in Food Preparation and Nutrition and 83% in Design Technology. while Art and Drama both achieved a 100% pass rate.
Business and Computer Science also achieved strong results, with Business securing 47% at grades 9 - 7 and Computer Science achieving 58% at the top grades.
Alongside GCSEs, BTEC pathways also delivered outstanding success. Music BTEC students excelled with 86% at Distinction*, while Animal Care celebrated excellent outcomes with 67% of students awarded Distinction* or Distinction. Sport was equally strong, with GCSE PE securing a 100% pass rate and BTEC Sport students celebrating a 100% pass rate, including 33% at Distinction.
This breadth of excellence is a hallmark of the school, where high standards are achieved across Sciences, Languages, Humanities, Creative Arts and specialist subjects.
Outgoing Headteacher Mrs Claire Robinson, reflecting on her final set of results before stepping down, said:

While we rightly celebrate these superb outcomes I remind our young people that grades do not define them, their character will ultimately shape their futures. To see them excel, thrive and embody our ethos of going above and beyond is the greatest legacy I could ask for as I hand over the leadership of this wonderful school.'
