Paddington Star Hugh Bonneville Inspires Pupils with New Children’s Book
Paddington star Hugh Bonneville delighted pupils at Beaudesert Park School on Monday 13th October during a special school visit, as part of the launch his new children’s book, Rory Sparkes and the Elephant in the Room.
Bonneville is working with local book shop, The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop, and visiting a number of primary schools across Gloucestershire.
Rory Sparkes and the Elephant in the Room tells the story of Rory and best friend Guy, as they try to earn money to buy a model sailboat they hope to sail to South America.
Headmaster Chris Searson said, '
It was wonderful to welcome Hugh to Beaudesert. Author visits are a brilliant way to spark a child’s passion for reading, and Hugh needs no introduction. We are exceptionally lucky to have had him with us.'
The children asked Hugh questions including '
how loud do you think an elephant’s fart is?' and '
did you really put a tarantula on your face in Paddington in Peru?'
On his visit, Hugh said, '
I have had the best day at Beaudesert Park School. I love the energy and enthusiasm that children bring to these events.'
Hugh’s visit was part of a wider tour organised with The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop, aiming to inspire young readers across Gloucestershire.
Rory Sparkes and the Elephant in the Room is out now, written by Hugh Bonneville, illustrated by Loretta Schauer, Bloomsbury Children’s Books.
