Sir Iain Duncan Smith Visits Chigwell School
As part of Chigwell School’s commitment to academic enrichment, our Sixth Form pupils were privileged to welcome the Rt Hon Sir Iain Duncan Smith MP for an inspiring session on the inner workings of British politics.
Sir Iain offered a fascinating insight into the role of an MP, the functioning of Parliament, and the importance of political engagement in shaping society. From political strategy and law making to freedom of speech and global affairs, the discussion was both wide-ranging and thought-provoking.
The highlight of the event was a lively Q&A session, where pupils posed challenging questions about the UK’s power system.
One student reflected, 'I
learnt about juggling the different hats of being an MP -serving local communities while working with cabinet colleagues on national matters.'
