Upper Sixth achieve outstanding A Level results
Pupils, parents and staff celebrated outstanding A Level results achieved by Tonbridge’s Upper Sixth pupils.
Continuing the School’s strong track record of success, 92 per cent of all grades awarded were A*, A or B, with 73 per cent of those being A* and A. Notably, almost half of the cohort (77 boys) achieved straight A* and A grades.
These excellent results secured places for many students at the UK’s top universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, the London School of Economics, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Durham, Bath, Exeter and UCL, among others. The large majority of leavers successfully gained entry to their first-choice destinations, with a particularly strong interest in Medicine.
Additionally, a significant number of students chose to study abroad, with growing interest in US universities such as Columbia, USC, UCLA, Brown, Washington University in St Louis, Claremont McKenna and Miami. Others took up places at Hong Kong University, the University of British Columbia, and universities in the Netherlands, Germany and Australia.
James Priory, Headmaster, said: '
Our School community celebrated another impressive year of A Level results, and it was exciting to see our pupils progress to such a diverse and high-calibre range of destinations. They made a significant contribution to our School community, both in and out of the classroom, and we look forward to seeing them make a positive impact on the wider world as a consequence of all that they experienced during their time at Tonbridge.'
These results reflected the Independent Schools Inspectorate’s endorsement of Tonbridge’s innovative Sixth Form curriculum and its community engagement programme – both recognised as significant strengths (ISI, 2024).
The Sixth Form curriculum allows students to develop advanced specialisation in their A Level subjects while maintaining a broad academic experience through options such as the Extended Project Qualification and additional language courses.
