Frensham Heights Senior School Shines with Spirited Production of Guys & Dolls

Students from Years 7 to 13 delivered each scene, song and dance with energy and flair, honouring the timeless show while giving it a distinctly Frensham pulse.

Many of the lead roles were performed by Year 13 Arts Award students, who are aiming for drama school and showcased their exceptional talent in this standout production.

From the tender moments of Sky and Sarah to the comic sparkle of Nathan and Adelaide, the cast brought audiences into a city alive with love, risk and second chances. The live band, featuring both Frensham students and staff, navigated a complex and demanding score with skill and vitality, enhancing every number and creating a truly immersive theatrical experience.

The Mayor of Farnham, George Murray, who attended the performance, praised the production: 'It was a fabulous show! The performances were amazing… wonderful dancing, singing and acting.'

Sam Sugarman, Head of Drama added: 'It was a joy to watch the cast bring these classic songs and characters to life. Highlights included several encores of Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat, the incredible dancers bringing the Hot Box scenes to life, and the camaraderie and commitment of the whole ensemble for Luck Be a Lady. In the dark and rainy November evenings, the cast brought laughter and light to their audiences, and we can’t wait to do it all again soon!'

The production also highlighted the remarkable dedication of the students, who balanced schoolwork with rehearsals to deliver a performance of professional standard. Behind the scenes, Frensham’s passionate and talented backstage crew ensured the show ran seamlessly. Inspired by this expertise, the school will launch a new Sixth Form Technical Theatre qualification in September, offering students the opportunity to develop skills in lighting, sound, stage management, set design and more.

Throughout the performance, the cast, dancers, band and crew demonstrated not only outstanding skill but genuine enjoyment, reflecting Frensham Heights’ ongoing commitment to excellence in the performing arts.

Frensham Heights congratulates everyone involved for their hard work, creativity, and teamwork in bringing this vibrant production to life.
