Beaudesert Park Charity Fair Raises £10,000 for Children’s Hospital

Beaudesert Park School’s annual charity fair has raised a total of £10,000 for Bristol Children’s Hospital’s charity, The Grand Appeal.

The fundraising shopping event featured 37 local and independent businesses, and was sponsored by The Country House Department, Beaufort Polo Club and Concierge Medical.

The Grand Appeal supports sick children and babies from across the South West, ensuring they have access to the very best care. Thanks to the funds raised by the Beaudesert Park community and two other donors, the charity has already purchased seven ambulatory pumps needed for the Paediatric Oncology department. The pumps allow children undergoing cancer treatment to administer medications at home, reducing the need for hospital stays.

Alongside the main fair, Beaudesert Park School pupils hosted their own children’s fair, contributing their takings to the £10,000 total. Their stalls included traditional funfair stalls such as face painting, a coconut shy and the ever-popular ‘splat the teacher’, all run by the children.

Steph Benson, Community Fundraising Manager for The Grand Appeal, visited the school to thank the children and their families for their support.

Steph said, 'We’re blown away by the incredible fundraising of the pupils, staff and community of Beaudesert Park School.

'The ambulatory pumps that their fundraising has supported are going to make a life-changing impact to children undergoing treatment for cancer from across our region, allowing them to receive more treatment in the comfort of their own home.'

Headmaster, Chris Searson said, 'We are incredibly proud of our school community for coming together to support The Grand Appeal.'

'This charity makes an extraordinary difference to families facing some of the toughest moments of their lives, and our community rallied themselves with so much compassion and enthusiasm.'

Beaudesert Park School’s charity fair runs every autumn and has raised over £130,000 for local and international charities over the past 15 years.
