Historic Cannizaro Park Aviary hosts artworks by Donhead Prep pupils

Donhead are celebrating the success of a poignant art exhibition displayed at the Historic Cannizaro Park’s Aviary in Wimbledon.

The exhibition was a collaborative project by the children of Donhead Prep School’s Art Club. Through the theme ‘Remember’ the artists have explored the symbols, emotions, and stories connected to the impacts of conflict. Their work honours the courage and service of others while recognising our shared responsibility to build a peaceful future.

Hosted by the Friends of Cannizaro Park, the exhibition is housed within the aviary, a striking Gothic-style building constructed in 1976. Once home to exotic birds, it was until recently the only remaining aviary of its kind in London. Today, this distinctive structure has been revitalised as a community art space, offering a tranquil setting for reflection and creativity.

Headteacher of Donhead Prep School, Catherine Hitchcock, said:

“Our pupils have created deeply thoughtful and moving pieces. Through art, they’ve captured the spirit of remembrance not just as a moment of reflection, but as a message of hope for the future.”
