The Oratory Prep School Announces the Appointment of New Headmaster
The Oratory Prep School in South Oxfordshire is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Will May as its new Headmaster, effective September 2026.
Mr May joins from The Marist in Sunninghill, where he currently serves as Head of Prep. His appointment follows a rigorous and highly competitive selection process led by Governors, during which he stood out for his clarity of vision, breadth of experience and genuine commitment to children and families.
Mr May’s route to headship reflects both depth and diversity of experience. After graduating into the world of finance, he chose to pursue a career in education, answering what he describes as his true vocation. He has since held senior leadership roles at several respected independent schools, including St Dunstan’s College, Lord Wandsworth College and Lambrook.
While at Lambrook, Mr May served as Head of Middle School and led the school’s “Future Schools” programme, overseeing preparation for senior school transition. This work gave him extensive insight into pupil readiness, aspiration and pastoral development at a crucial stage in a child’s education. He will continue to lead strategically on this important aspect of school life at The Oratory Prep School.

To ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition, Mr May will attend a number of school events during the remainder of the academic year, working closely with current Headmaster, Andrew De Silva, ahead of formally taking up post in September 2026.
