Lunchtime Recital Series at Rochester Cathedral
The Lunchtime Recital Series at Rochester Cathedral, held in collaboration with King’s School, Rochester, continues to be a charming highlight of the local cultural calendar. The most recent performance on Monday showcased the impressive breadth of talent within the School’s Music Scholars. Set against the backdrop of the Whale Exhibition the event offered a serene mid-day escape for the local community.
The programme was delightfully varied, spanning a wide range of eras and instruments. Highlights included:
- Alex opening with the powerful Suite Gothique by Boëllmann on the organ.
- Lyrical vocal performances by Romy and Luke.
- Technical displays on the clarinet, cello and piano by Christopher, Arthur, and Emma.
- An atmospheric rendition of Satie’s Gnossienne no.1 by Lily on the saxophone.
This series provides a vital platform for young musicians to hone their craft in a professional, acoustic-rich environment. For those who missed this installment, the music continues shortly; the next recital is scheduled for Monday, 2nd March, featuring a dedicated programme of organ music by Robbie Carroll, the Assistant Director of Music at the Cathedral. King’s School Rochester and Kent Cricket Announce Five-Year Partnership
King’s School Rochester is proud to announce a new five-year partnership with Kent Cricket, marking an exciting new chapter for youth cricket development in the county. Under the agreement, King’s School Rochester will become a Kent Cricket Development Centre for Kent Youth Pathway indoor training and outdoor cricket fixtures, providing young cricketers with access to outstanding facilities in a historic and inspiring setting.
Cricket has been played for centuries on the school’s Paddock sports ground, set against the backdrop of Rochester Castle, and at the nearby Alps sports ground. The partnership brings together this deep-rooted tradition with Kent Cricket’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of elite players.

One Day More: Les Misérables Workshop
King's hosted a Workshop Day for visiting primary schools - centred around our Senior Production of Les Misérables!
It was truly amazing to see the pupils involved throw themselves into the afternoon - singing, acting and creating a wonderful performance for their parents later in the day.
Our visitors were accompanied by some of the production's lead performers, creating a fantastic blend of different age groups all singing together in harmony.
