Hurst hosts the U18 Sussex Open 7s
Despite challenging weather conditions, the U18 Sussex Open 7s delivered a high-quality showcase of skill, resilience, and school rugby.
The standard of play across all 16 competing schools and colleges was outstanding, and the attitude shown by players, coaches, and parents contributed to a superb atmosphere from the first whistle to the final.
The College would like to thank NextGenXV for providing a brilliant livestream, as well as the Hurst Operations Team, Grounds Staff, Catering Team, and Transport Office for their hard work behind the scenes. Their efforts ensured that the event ran smoothly and allowed our athletes to perform at their best.
The finals produced competitive and engaging matches across all competitions. In an excellent Cup Final, Seaford College defeated St John’s. Eton College emerged victorious against Trinity in the Plate Final. In the Vase Final, Cardinal Newman claimed the honours in a competitive match against Gordon’s, while the Bowl Final saw Sutton Valence edge past a spirited Hurst B side.
Events such as this are particularly important for our Upper Sixth students, providing an opportunity to showcase their Rugby and to bring their school careers to a strong conclusion. From the preparation to the final matches, the day truly embodied our sporting DNA: Developing Character, Nurturing Potential, and Achieving Together.
Thank you to everyone involved for contributing to the success of the 2026 Hurst U18 Sussex Open 7s.
