Harmony at Hampton Court House

Hampton Court House School has become the first independent school in England - and only the second school nationally - to receive official accreditation from The Harmony Project, marking a landmark moment in British education.

Harmony presentation to Krisztina Bodacz-Nagy Head of Sustainability

The accreditation, led by Harmony Project Director Richard Dunne, recognises four years of sustained curriculum innovation at Hampton Court House School. This national distinction positions the school at the forefront of a transformative movement in education - one that places nature, systems thinking, and environmental responsibility at the very heart of learning.

A Shift in ÍÑ¿ã°Éal Thinking
This achievement represents more than accreditation; it signals a shift in how education can respond to the defining challenges of our time. The Harmony curriculum reimagines learning through Nature’s seven principles: Interdependence, Cycles, Diversity, Adaptation, Health, Geometry, and Oneness. Rather than teaching sustainability as a standalone subject, Harmony reframes the entire curriculum through the lens of ecological balance and interconnected systems.

Inspired by the environmental philosophy championed by His Majesty the King Charles III, the approach reflects a vision of the world as a balanced, cyclical system in which human life is inseparable from the natural environment. At Hampton Court House, this philosophy is not theoretical, it is lived daily across subjects, year groups, and outdoor spaces.

A Living Curriculum in a Living Landscape

Set within expansive and biodiverse grounds, Hampton Court House offers students a unique “living classroom.” Here, biodiversity, seasonal cycles, natural geometry, and ecological relationships are not abstract concepts but directly observable realities. Outdoor enquiry is integral, not additional. Students explore symbiotic systems, investigate environmental health, and connect classroom theory with lived experience. This immersive approach fosters stewardship, curiosity, and a deep understanding of ecological balance - qualities increasingly essential in a rapidly changing world.

A Continuous Journey from Prep to Senior School
As an all-through school, Hampton Court House ensures that Harmony learning evolves with the child. In Prep School, weekly interdisciplinary enquiries connect science, humanities, art, and design to the seven principles of nature. As students progress into Senior School, these foundations expand into sustainable design, environmental innovation, architecture, and advanced systems thinking. This continuity is rare. While many sustainability initiatives remain confined to primary education, Hampton Court House has embedded Harmony across the entire educational journey — cultivating not only awareness but leadership and ethical innovation.

ÍÑ¿ã°É for a Changing Century
The Harmony Project was established to reshape education for a century defined by climate change, biodiversity loss, and global complexity. By placing nature at the centre of learning, students develop the systems thinking required to navigate and solve modern challenges.

The accreditation celebration, led by Richard Dunne, recognised years of whole-school commitment, collaboration, and curriculum design. Hampton Court House now stands among a small but growing national network of schools demonstrating how education can move beyond fragmented subject silos toward an integrated, nature-centred model.

Redefining What ÍÑ¿ã°É Can Be
Harmony at Hampton Court House is not simply a curriculum framework. It is a philosophy of education, one that restores coherence, meaning, and purpose to learning.

Eco committee

By becoming the first independent school in England - and only the second nationally - to receive this prestigious accreditation, Hampton Court House has established itself as a leader in reimagining how young people are prepared for the future. In addition Hampton Court House also won the prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag award with distinction, with sustainability efforts spearheaded by the student led Eco Committee. The school is empowering students not merely to understand environmental change, but to shape a more sustainable, balanced world.
