DLD College London Students Turn Imagination into Reality at Games Expo
Creativity, strategy and play came together in a spectacular showcase as Year 9 students at DLD College unveiled their own board game creations at the annual Games Expo
Held at the Westminster Bridge Road-based school, the highly anticipated occasion celebrated the students’ projects from classroom concept to fully realised game, each complete with bespoke packaging, detailed rulebooks and inventive gameplay mechanics. Over the past term, students have immersed themselves into the fundamentals of game design, exploring narrative development, world building, balance, strategy and player experience.
The results were as diverse as they were imaginative and impressive. Some games invited fast-paced competitive play, while others encouraged storytelling and cooperative problem-solving. The Games Expo gave students the invaluable opportunity to present their creations to peers and staff members, explaining their design choices and inviting visitors to experience and test the games first-hand.
The project not only highlighted the students’ artistic and technical skills but also encouraged teamwork, resilience, and innovation. From refining rules to adjusting gameplay balance, each group demonstrated thoughtful iteration and a commitment to creating something truly original.
