This traditional day and boarding country prep just outside Guildford has charm in bucketloads, with its Swallows and Amazons-style boating lake and beautiful old perimeter walls encircling spacious grounds. It almost feels like it’s from a bygone age, but while lots of lovely traditions remain (such as sport every day after lunch), pupils receive a 360-degree modern education – and where it was once boys only, now girls make up 36 per cent of pupils.
