Bursaries
Bursary awards at the school are supported by the Richard Churcher Foundation, which offers a limited number of bursaries for existing and prospective pupils at both the prep and senior schools. All bursaries are means-tested and can be awarded in cases where it would not otherwise be financially possible for the pupil to join or remain in the school. Pupils do not need to win a scholarship in order to be considered for a bursary - bursaries are awarded to existing pupils of the school and also those entering at 11+, 13+ or 16+. The awards are means-tested and are based upon a clearly identified need, considering both income and assets.
In 2024/25 bursaries of £836,277 were awarded. The budget for 2025/26 is in the region of £900,000, or up to 4% of net fee income. Preference is given to children residing in or near to Petersfield.
As a guide for the 2025/26 academic year, to be considered for a 75% award gross parental income must be in the range £47,200 to £60,700 depending on assets, and awards are adjusted based on the expectation of applying any significant savings, investments and property equity towards school fees. While awards of around 75% are the most common, lower and higher awards are available at different levels of income.
